It was 7:50PM. Teru had gotten bored of studying and broke it up with his nightly stretches—he had decided it was going to be an early night to bed. He had already decided he was going to sign up for the next basketball roster and it was offseason practice time.

As it turned out, he couldn’t tolerate a lack of things to do after school for long.

Cooling down from his trunk rotations with some Kamizawa Water, he checked his phone and paused mid-sip. There were a few notifications from Mob that he opened right away. There were a few pictures of what was undoubtedly the long-awaited kaiseki meal…though they were a bit blurry. Oh, one was actually decent in quality. There was also a blurred person in the background of one without much food—even with the lack of clarity it looked like they weren’t expecting to be caught on camera. Had he meant to send that one, let alone take it? Oh well, didn’t matter.

Teru sunk deeper into the water. He stared at their exchange in its entirety and carried on a silent debate with himself.

But I've never felt this way about someone Send.

But because I've never felt this way it feels unfair to label it hastily Send. Unfair was too light a word...wrong was closer, but still something he couldn't fully describe.

Mob was oblivious as to who Teru was talking about.

Yeah Send. Teru was perturbed how readily he was taking Mob's reassurance, but he decided it was only natural for someone like him. He had no one else to talk to about it. He was pathetic that way, and he accepted it.

Still, Mob was helping him now without realizing it. He'd have to make them even again. Somehow. Just because he accepted who he was in that moment didn't mean he was at peace with it. They were still rivals after all.

They've made a really strong impression on me Send.

If Reigen stared at the words he wrote down long enough maybe something would unlock in his brain. But, it hadn't yet. Not even writing it down repeatedly enough to fill the margins in his notebook was doing the trick. The sake that had been so generously left for him in his room wasn't exactly assisting either.

He took another sip.

It was damn good, though. God, sometimes he just needed to hit the reset button. Look at things in a new light, missing piece or no...right?

Reigen took another sip. Then another.

"Are you awake?" Asa's voice drifted from the other side of the sliding door. It wasn't quite a whisper, but she wasn't speaking at her normal volume, either.

Jolted out of his thoughts, Reigen lowered his small glass so quickly he practically slammed it, hastily wiping off his mouth with the sleeve of his dark yukata.

“Yes! Please come in.”

Asa slid open the door slowly, as to make as little noise as possible. While the resort was well taken care of, there were some sounds that came standard with a building of this age.

"I'm sorry to interrupt you so late at night." She slid the door closed behind her. "Mind if I join you?"
